Job description
Samsung R&D Institute’s Finland Branch is seeking an outstanding Head of R&D to assist in the continued growth and enhancement of this world leading facility.
The main purpose of the role is to provide an exceptional level of design and implementation expertise and supervision in all development areas relevant to our Finland Branch’s current and future activities. The ultimate goal is for this R&D Centre is to become a world class facility with focus on software design.



Key Functions
The main tasks expected to be performed include, but are not limited to:
Responsibility for leading development teams and projects in Mobile Technology
Responsibility for ongoing research and development projects
Responsibility for future technology direction and strategy
Work with Senior Management as well as key stakeholders to determine and define both local and global strategies for future development projects
Direct technical standards including, but not limited to, coding standards, tools and platforms
Promote the activities of the R&D Centre both internally and externally
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this position forms part of the Senior Management Team with overall responsibility for development projects within the Mobile Technology area of the Organisation.

Desired Skills and Experience
Essential Skills and Experience:
A degree in Computer Science or related discipline
Experience of working at Software Architect level within Mobile Technology
Experience in embedded software development and management
Experience in leading and developing teams in a fast-paced environment
Experience of working as part of a Senior Management Team and influencing peers and superiors in technical areas
Experience in both people and project management
Experience of SW design methodologies, systems and tools
Ability to lead strategic direction of research and development activities within the mobile domain
Ability to promote activities both internally and externally
Ability to learn and implement local and corporate business philosophies

Desirable Skills and Experience:
PhD Qualification
Proven track record of building and growing technical teams and driving technical strategy
